RE: Favorite Ground beef recipes, any new ones?

I recently bought "The Ultimate Ground Beef Cookbook" published by Taste of Home Magazine and I LOVE IT!!!
Lots of simple, great tasting recipes I remember making before but forgetting about as well as lots of new recipes to make!!

RE: Cherokee TT 31B

We had a Cherokee 28A+ for 3 years. We did not have any issues with it. Nothing "fell apart" quality wise but there would be a difference between that and a higher end model.
That being said, we did not notice a "quality" difference until we got a higher end camper.

RE: comments on a new fiver. Montana 3465

We just made this trade the beginning of this year. We went from a Cherokee 28A+ TT to a 31 ft Montana FW w/3 slides. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! Quality is far superior--but you get what you pay for. The Cherokee was the right thing for us at the right time....but now that we have the Montana, I'd never go back.

RE: Thinking about a 5ver, question?

I am a bit obsessive/compulsive and I usually have our reservations for each night already made. I ALWAYS have our destination reservation made 3-6 months in advance and almost without fail, the reservations made along the way as well. Friends of ours set out each year on vacation never knowing for sure where or how far they will go. They just get in and drive. That would make me crazy but I sometimes wish I could find a happy medium!!

RE: Bicycles in truck bed with fifth wheel?

We carry the kids 2 bikes in the back all the time. Unless we are really making a sharp turn it is not an issue.

For $60 I'd jump on it!

RE: how /what do you cook while camping

We like to cook and eat much the same as at home. The one thing I like to do, because I have literally no counter space in our small trailer, is do a lot of prep at home-wash veggies and salad greens and fruit in the big home sink with home water, fix and maybe freeze casserole type dishes, cut up the melon and get it in a storage container-that sort of thing.
I like prepping a lot at home as well. Especially frying bacon and sausage beforehand so all we have to do is heat it in the micro. Using the crockpot is great as well.

RE: Pull Out Rear Storage Rack

I've seen mostly coolers, firewood, lawn chairs, rubbermaid containers etc. strapped on and carried on them as well as bikes.

RE: Portable Ice Makers

I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of details about this unit on the web site, I assume it's 110v, are you running it off an inverter or will you have electric when you're camping? How/where do you fill the water, how much does it make per hour?
Anyways, thank for posting, I didn't even know they had portable ice makers.
There are quite a few different models out there. Most make between 20-30# of ice per day and put out ice every 6-15 minutes depending on the size of cube you have selected. Here are some more examples.

RE: Big boom, but I didn't go down

OK, I have a question. What do you do to jog your memory to remove the "noodles" before you put your slides in??

RE: slideout ?

We leave ours out when sitting in the driveway. Simply because we do not have fridge access without the slides in the out position. All of our slides operate consecutively with one extend button. The kitchen slide is the 2nd slide to come out. We leave the FW plugged in at home all summer so, in order to have easy access between trips to stock the fridge, we leave them out.

RE: 5th wheel hitch

We just started towing a 5th wheel this year. Had TTs before. We do not have a slider and have never been or felt close to hitting the cab. Like others, we have the kids watch and pay close attention to how close we are getting. Has not been an issue so far.

RE: Best outdoor carpet/mat?

Here's an example
We have one very similar to this that we purchased on QVC actually. We are very happy with it. It is not as heavy as the astro turf stuff and the dirt and sand do fall through. If it gets muddy or dirty you just hose it off to clean it.

Just FYI, for the bleach mixture to retain its bacteria/virus killing action, you have to mix it new every 24 hours.

Here is a link to the Forest River site that will give you a 360 degree virtual tour. The second link is simply some pics that came up on a search.

I agree with Horsedoc. We spent a week in the Rushmore area last year and could have easily stayed longer. Did not cover everything we wanted to see.

RE: Where does your baby sleep in your RV?

One more suggestion. If you want to save floor space, make your dinette into the bed, then place the pack and play on the surface. Helps if space is limited.
